The famous Bamboo Forest is located in the picturesque district of Arashiyama in Kyoto, Japan. To get to the actual bamboo forest, you first pass over the famous Togetsukyo Bridge and walk through a charming little village.
The bamboo forest itself is truly a beautiful work of nature. The sun peaking through the top of the bamboo stems and the green ambiance creates a serene atmosphere. The forest is a perfect place for a casual stroll, a bike ride, or even a fun rickshaw ride with your own personal Japanese tour guide.
This is a very popular tourist attraction, for good reasons, and is almost always crowded. When I was there, even though it was a rainy day, you could barely elbow your way through the crowd. The people don’t ruin the calming effect of forest but they probably will get in the way of your photos!
Happy Travels!
